Many of our clients who live in static caravans and mobile homes love not having the worry and expense of a bricks-and-mortar house. However, static caravans can become very hot in summer and very cold in winter. Our customers who live in static caravans have discovered that an air-to-air heat pump is a great solution to climate control all year round. Let’s take a closer look.
How do you keep a static caravan cool in hot weather?
Static caravans and park homes are a great solution for people who are looking to downsize, or who want the freedom and affordability of a different type of home. In general, static caravans, mobile homes and park homes offer a cheaper alternative to conventional houses and flats. However, static caravans are often less well-insulated than brick houses and heating bills can be disproportionately high. Similarly, static caravans can become very hot in summer. But we believe you shouldn’t fall out of love with your static caravan just because of indoor temperatures. An air-to-air heat pump is a single system that can keep your static caravan warm in winter and cool in summer. And because it’s more efficient than a gas fire or electric heating, you’ll see a significant drop in your energy costs too.
How does an air-to-air heat pump work?
Heat pumps work by extracting heat from the air and pumping it into your home or out of it. In winter, the outside section of the heat pump draws heat from the outside air and pumps it into your home to warm it. Incredibly, as long as the outside temperature is above -15 degrees centigrade, the pump can extract heat. Because the heat already exists, it only takes a small amount of energy to raise its temperature further so it can heat your home – in fact, one unit of energy can create four units of heat. This is why heat pumps are so efficient, and why they are a relatively cheap way to heat your home. In summer, the heat pump extracts the heat from the air inside your home and takes it outside. With summers getting hotter, and caravans having a habit of getting very hot anyway, it’s well worth installing a heat pump to cool the air in your home. Our customers find it makes a big difference to their comfort, as well as lowering heating bills in the winter.
